I was going to write today about some new blogs, but after doing some reading I decided to take a very different route. One of our newer blogging families has had some major family health issues, and I realized they’re not the only ones. So today I’m going to point you to just a few families with sick kids.
Dealing with medical issues is hard enough in one’s own country, but even more of a challenge when you’re working in a language, culture and system you’re not familiar with. Harder still when you’re dealing with medical issues in two countries, as people often end up doing!
Let’s start with a blog entitled Czech in on the Chumbleys. Payton Chumbley is 3 years old and has Ewing’s Sarcoma (an agressive form of bone cancer).

The Chumbleys have set up a special journal for Payton using a service called CaringBridge. CaringBridge has spaces for photos, a guestbook and a journal, but unfortunately it doesn’t have a news feed. However, you can sign up to be emailed when the journal is updated. Visit Payton’s site here.
The Chumbleys aren’t the only family I know using CaringBridge. Kaitlyn Contreras is part of a family serving in Mexico. At the age of 4 (this July) she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She’s on the long road to recovery now, and wondering when she can get back into her own room in Mexico. Start at the beginning of her journal to read the amazing path God has let this family through…
Normally we feature cross-cultural missionaries here, but I’m going to include one more family I recently heard from because it fits so well with the theme, and I’m sure they would appreciate your prayers as well. Andy and Kristi Corley and their three children are serving in the area of computers and internet technology. Their daughter Alex is 8 years old, and is dealing with seizures (and lots of treatment!). You can read updates on Alexandria Corley here. Recently, Alex has also been serving her best friend who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer.
Please pray for these and many other families dealing with serious issues like these. Do you know of others that are blogging? Leave a comment!
