All right, so it’s just another fun way to discover new blogs! I admit, I cheated a bit with X. But the Rapp family has to get some kind of a prize for their creative use of that misunderstood letter.

I do believe I managed to have 26 different countries as well.

So enjoy this quick alphabetical tour of the world, and go leave a comment on a blog you’ve never commented on before!

So what’s going on in South America? I decided to tour around to see what our bloggers down there are talking about this month. Here’s what I found…

How would you like to visit some ancient Incan ruins? Check out Just to the South of Lima, Peru…

Some pictures and thoughts out of Ecuador – TIST (Things I saw today)

Why do missionaries love to party? Check out What Made this Party so Special in Paraguay

And just for those who love Bilbo, check out The Things I See… (also in Paraguay)

Arajuno–or “Jungle Light” – medical ministry in Ecuador

The sacrifice of missions? One missionary in Ecuador reflects on the past 24 years.

Exciting stuff in Columbia! Check out this post about Two Sundays of public services

And how about a similar story coming from Chile? Don’t miss the Exciting First Service!

And while we’re in Chile, check out this retreat – Catching Up: (First) Church Ladies’ Retreat

What does the Christmas season look like in Brazil? Check out Christmas In Santos

Fun and creativity with this goal: Teaching the True Meaning of Christmas in Brazil.

And more thoughts about sharing the Gospel in Brazil – A Chance for a Changed Life

What is Jesus building again? Thinking about it at The River Iriri (Brazil)

More sharing the Gospel in Brazil – Christmas Cantata #1

In Argentina, It broke.

*phew* – and that’s only a few of the many blogs we watch down in South America! Keep track of these and many more on the home page here.

By the way, you’ll notice I have more posts here from Brazil than any other country. That’s because we still have more bloggers from Brazil than anywhere else in South America. However, some other countries are starting to challenge them – such as Ecuador and Peru!

An interesting mix of themes for today’s post of interesting missionary blog posts from around the world! But all of the posts do have something to do with kids, so here goes…

What happens when a 4 year old finds a tarantula on the wall… (Ecuador)

A birthday party in South Africa

It’s not easy going to school that isn’t in your mother tongue – read about Eliza’s first day (Thailand)

Travelling in your "home country" as a kid can be hard – just ask Micah. (Kenya)

You never know what some missionaries are in need of until you ask. How about cloth diapers (Russia)?

Pray for what’s-his-name and his Mom… (Rwanda)

And now let’s talk about houses. First, there’s the joy of House-hunting in Congo. Do you think this house will do?

And after you’ve found a house, there’s work to be done – here’s a video: An Update on our House in Mexico. Oh, and just for fun – the installation of a shower curtain in Rwanda.

A good reminder out of Peru – Safety Zone.

Finally, how about some kids – birthdays (Ecuador), life in Niger, and kids hanging out at the house (Romania).

Missionary bloggers have a unique way of cooking. Sometimes they’re learning to local dishes in an unfamiliar culture. Sometimes they’re trying to cook something familiar, with unfamiliar ingredients. And sometimes they’re just having fun!

So in this post, let’s look at recipes missionaries have shared in the past – first, some with a cultural flavour, either very authentic or variations. Then, some unique recipes that are just for fun! (Note: once in a while the recipe isn’t in the post, but is linked to).

Cultural flavours:

Sarmale Recipe (Romania)

Pork and sausage shishkabobs and mote with dried peaches (Chile)

Chupe de Pescado (Ecuador)

Kourabiedes Greek Christmas Cookies (Greece)

Empanadas (Mexico)

Guatemalan/Mexican Chicken and Rice Soup (Guatemala and Mexico)

Balkan Pie (Macedonia)

Mexican empanadas

And now just for fun (note: of course all of these have cultural backgrounds. The point is, these aren’t from missionaries in those countries who are learning to cook a local dish. As far as I could tell.):

Black Bean Soup

Chai Mix

Spectacularly popular, it’s no surprise that people are blogging about it all over the world! I’m talking about Football (or Soccer, as it’s commonly called in places like New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the USA). Check out this video about a recent soccer school in Burkina Faso…

Sounds like a good sport for MKs to learn, right? Or maybe just showing a little interest in kids playing fútbal could go a long way.

It’s great to go and watch a game together, like this one between Ecuador and Uruguay. If you can’t go to the game, you can always watch it on TV – you’d be surprised what a community event it can be!

Here’s someone else using sports to reach out – maybe you can help.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is coming up! There will no doubt be more and more football buzzzz in the weeks ahead – stay tuned!
