Anita

This post from a missionary in Peru was entitled Hope.  Without the Lord Jesus, I’m not sure there would be much.  This is the heart-wrenching story of a little girl, but it’s only the beginning of the story…

What do you want to be when you grow up? Remember being asked that when you were a kid? A question like that comes with a lot of assumptions: it assumes that you have the ability to be whatever you want; it assumes that you will even have a choice in the matter; it assumes that you will even live long enough to "grow up."

Anita’s mother grew up to be a prostitute. I don’t know why – but I am quite sure it is not what she wanted to be as a little girl. That fact softens my feelings toward her for what she’s done. You see, Anita was born to her about ten years ago. The exact date is not known. In the dark, mixed up, messed up world of this woman, a child was an unwelcome inconvenience….

Any why not stop and pray for Anita?

Well, that’s enough of giving things away for a while – it’s time to get back to what we’re all about: Missionary Blogs!

But did you know that missionary bloggers are always giving things away?  They’re taking the time to share their lives with you, and share with you about what God is doing!

So let’s look at a few recent posts:

The Birth of a Ministry

18 April 2011

I enjoy reading about how things change, how ideas are born, and how they grow into new ways to help others.  That’s what this post out of Peru is all about, so I wanted to make sure to share it with you. It’s about making do, running, communicating – and it starts out with this [...]

Just a few recent interesting posts from around the world.  At the bottom I’ve included a couple of initial posts on the situation in Japan – I’ll try to have more for you next week as the news gets out.  For now, all the missionaries that have posted have said that they and their families [...]

26 Missionary Blogs (from A to Z)

21 February 2011

So I was just sitting here and wondering if I could make my very own A-Z list of missionary blogs. All right, so it’s just another fun way to discover new blogs!  I admit, I cheated a bit with X.  But the Rapp family has to get some kind of a prize for their creative [...]

If I want to feed my family… and other reflections

It doesn’t matter.  If you’re a missionary from Kenya to Egypt, or a missionary from Japan to Canada, or a missionary from the USA to Ecuador.  There are challenges.  Things to get used to.  Surprises. Here are some of the experiences missionary bloggers have been through lately.  For example, this blogger in Niger laments If [...]

He Says/She Says

30 June 2010

It’s always fun to get the perspective of both a husband and a wife.  In this case, He Says/She Says is actually the name of her blog.  His is Posts from Somewhere.  Specifically, the place is Huánuco, Peru. I think the first post from herself sums it up well.  Here’s an excerpt: As a little [...]

These Titles Caught My Attention. That’s All.

12 May 2010

In the past I’ve posted about posts based on cool pictures – ones that caught my attention. This time I ignored content altogether – at least to start with – and just looked for titles that caught my attention. You know, other than "Our May Newsletter".  Or "Even more photos of our trip".  Or my [...]

Bullfighting

29 April 2010

An odd topic, I know.  But let’s face it – bullfighting is a big deal in Latin America, and … in Spain, a VERY big deal! So I thought you might be interested in these three posts (one new, the other two old) about the topic. First, a quick picture of a bullfighting ring in [...]
