The Winner of the Kindle

by Jim on 23 December 2010

in Missionary-Blogs.com News

I’m sure you remember the contest we had back in October.  Our grand prize winner was Jesse Shanks, who won a Kindle 3G and a copy of the book Discovering the Songs of Christmas.

Well, Jesse has received his Kindle there in Togo.  He wrote about it here, and also sent me some proof that he really got it.

So here’s Jesse, with his prize…

A Kindle really is a great gift to get a missionary – maybe your family, church, Sunday School class, or small group could email a missionary today and tell them their late Christmas gift is on its way!  ;)

Did you enjoy the contest?  Maybe we’ll do another one in the new year.  It’s a fun way to help out our missionaries – and that’s one big reason why this site is here!

Announcing the Winners!

by Jim on 19 October 2010

in Missionary-Blogs.com News

You never know what’s going to happen!  Much to my surprise, the winner of the 1st Prize is a missionary that only had one entry!

All winners were chosen using random.org out of the valid entries here.

So, without further ado, here are the winners!

The prizes will be on their way to the winners right away!

Just to demonstrate the international reach of this site, the people who entered this contest came from 8 different countries on 5 continents!  And the missionary bloggers were from 4 continents and 8 countries!

Thanks, everyone, for entering.  But now, there’s more you can do!

All three of these prizes would make great gifts for missionaries!  They could be in a care package that your family puts together, or your church or small group could get together and send something to a missionary (like a Kindle!).

Why do these things make great, encouraging and useful gifts?  Click the links below to find out!

Our bloggers have some great posts that will help you find out!  Here are some recent ones… tanzanian kids say the darndest things – what are the most common greetings this person gets from kids in Tanzania?  I never would have guessed… And by the way, from the same blog, these pictures give a great [...]

Written in Chalk (and other posts)

28 April 2010

Sometimes it’s the simple things that encourage you the most.  That’s what I thought when I read this post entitled Sidewalk Chalk from Ukraine. It’s always good to read about what a missionary is doing – and it’s always completely different!  Here’s the latest from Peru in Back to Work! Looking to solve a problem [...]

Countries Less Mentioned – Part 1

23 May 2009

Now that we have the nice tag cloud down on the left of the screen, we can see which countries get mentioned more often here.  This mostly has to do with who blogs more often, and which countries have more bloggers, and so on. But today we’re going to use that tag cloud to focus [...]

Appliances and Moving to Togo

20 January 2009

Jesse and Tiffany Shanks have had their frustrations trying to get appliances that they can use in Togo. After all, you’ve got to find them, get them where they’re going, and of course pay for them all! After ordering their appliances, they got an unexpected surprise which they just called Training for Togo. Then, God [...]
